Patricia Friar

The Compass Group was established in 1994 as a consultancy providing outsource services to SMBs.  Originally offering financial and accounting guidance for promising start-ups, The Compass Group grew to include outsource marketing services, Today The Compass Group focuses on Marketing Services. The Compass Group offers a way to pull in a variety of marketing capabilities, affordably.

This side of the business is managed by Patricia Friar. Ms. Friar, a veteran of venture-backed start-ups, has assisted tech companies in defining marketing, branding, and successful go-to-market strategies and tactics. Patricia has passion for creating  conversation and "buzz" through social media and Web 2.0 to gain the attention you need.

Ms. Friar's roots run deep in Internet technologies and marketing.  She was a founding member and Vice President of Corporate Communications at TradeWave, a spin out of the MCC research consortium in 1994. Backed by federal funding, this company's charter was to create software to enable the Internet to be used as a commercial vehicle. They developed the first search and categorized SE, the first Mac Web Browser, the first VPI with single sign-on using PKI security.

Ms. Friar has held the positions of Vice President of Marketing at three successful software start-ups. Prior to a career in high-tech marketing, Ms. Friar was a business systems staff consultant for Asea Brown Boveri and business systems development manager at both Fortune 100 and start-up software companies.

Ms. Friar holds a BA and MBA from Cornell University.
